How Does Each System Work?
Underfloor Heating: Warm water circulates through pipes buried beneath the floor surface, radiating gentle, even heat upward from the entire floor area.
Radiators: Hot water flows through wall-mounted aluminium panels, heating the surrounding air and releasing warmth rapidly into the room.
Comfort — What Does It Feel Like?
Underfloor heating delivers exceptionally even warmth throughout the room with no cold spots and no draughts. Walking barefoot on a warm marble floor is a genuinely luxurious feeling. Radiators heat a room faster, but the warmth can be less evenly distributed — warmer near the radiator, cooler further away.
Energy Efficiency & Running Costs
Underfloor heating operates at lower water temperatures (35–45°C vs 60–75°C for radiators), which means it works more efficiently with modern condensing boilers and heat pumps — delivering up to 40% energy savings. Radiators have a lower upfront installation cost, but higher long-term running costs in comparison.
Space & Interior Design
This is where underfloor heating truly wins: no equipment on your walls means complete design freedom. If you have limited wall space, narrow rooms, or simply want a clean, minimalist interior, underfloor heating is the clear choice.
Heatec also offers ThermaSkirt — a skirting-board heating system that gives you similar freedom without the full floor installation.
Which Is Right for Your Home?
Choose underfloor heating if you are building or doing a full renovation, want maximum energy efficiency, and value open, flexible interior design.
Choose radiators if you want a faster, lower-cost installation, need quick heating in specific rooms, or are upgrading an existing system.
The Bottom Line
Both systems are excellent in the right context. At Heatec Solutions, we supply and install both — with industry-leading warranties: 50 years on underfloor heating pipework and 15 years on aluminium radiators.
